TEA SELECTION
THE POINTE BLEND
Blended exclusively for The Pointe Restaurant, this herbal tea pairs effortlessly with both tranquil & dramatic ocean views and is a true taste of rustic elegance on nature’s edge. Women micro-farmed Himalayan Chamomile, Saskatoon berry, birch bark, elderberry, lemon verbena, lemongrass, hibiscus, currant, orange peel, rose petals, and natural flavors.
ENGLISH BREAKFAST
When tea replaced ale as the favored beverage at the breakfast table, it was an unblended China Keemun (grown in the highlands of mountainous Anhui Province, China) that was had. Blended true to the origin of “English Breakfast”, our connoisseur grade is mostly Keemun with just a hint of Ceylon to sweeten. The Ceylon or Sri Lanka GFOP black tea has a fresh, smooth taste with bright liquor.
CLASSIC ORANGE PEKOE
Sri Lanka (formerly known as Ceylon) is the world's fourth largest producer of black teas and has an ideal climate for rich, complex black teas. Orange Pekoe, from a technical nature, is the quality label for black tea made with whole, medium size leaves. The term "Orange" originates from the Dutch Royal House of Orange-Nassau ("orange" means "regal" in Dutch). Pekoe (pak-hoe) is a Chinese word describing the spring buds of the tea bush which are covered with 'down'.
IMPERIAL or DECAF EARL GREY
Earl Grey teas are traditionally black teas perfumed with oil of bergamot. The quality of Earl Grey teas will vary tremendously depending on the type and complexity of black teas employed. As well, the type of bergamot oil used is important. We use a natural oil of bergamot which is sourced in Italy and the first press (cold press) of the bergamot skin. This ensures the highest quality of bergamot character.
THUNDERBOLT DARJEELING
Known as the "Champagne of tea", and charged with the distinct Darjeeling character, this second flush is named for the region (Darjeeling literally means "Land of the Thunderbolts"). Similar to the Champagne designation in France, only black teas grown in Darjeeling region (cultivated, grown, processed in the hilly areas of Sadar, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Silguri) are allowed to be called "Darjeeling Tea".
